Lawrence was on the stage from age three.About 1910,she made the 1st personal appearance of a film star in St. Louis and the resulting publicity made her famous. After a stage accident in which she injured her back, she retired from films, only to be lured back in 1916 for her first feature. It was unsuccessful. She tried a comeback again in 1921;that, too,was unsuccessful. She settled into bit parts and character roles through the 1920s and 1930s.She committed suicide in 1938 after years of unhappiness and illness. At age 12, she debuted on stage in a stock production, reached Broadway by age 18, then triumphed at 20 as the star of Daddy Long Legs. She didn't break into films until her mid-30s, starting with Sins of the Fathers (1928). She was subsequently nominated for "Best Actress" Oscars for her work in Madame X (1929) and Sarah and Son (1930), but is perhaps best remembered as Walter Huston's spoiled, selfish wife in Dodsworth (1936), after the making of which she left Hollywood. She went on to appear in two British productions, then retired from the screen. She continued a successful and variety-filled career on the stage, once directing a play but more usually starring in Broadway productions. She authored a Broadway play as well as several novels in the '50s. Chatterton was also a licensed pilot who flew her own plane cross-country. She was married three times, each time to an actor.

2 comments Sacha0606 Fri, 11 May 2012 07:56:15 -0700 Delicate Perfume http://www.creativevictorian.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=5147

by: Sacha0606

Description: Anita Stewart (1895–1961) Born in Brooklyn, she began her acting career in 1911. The horror film Willard (1971) was highly successful and one of her last roles was in Murder By Death(1976). Queen Elizabeth I, always a trendsetter, invented and popularized the look of blackened lips. Elizabethan-era lipstick was a little bit easier to handle than Cleopatra's - it was made with simple beeswax and plant-derived red dyes. However, by the time Queen Victoria took the throne, makeup in general was deemed unladylike and banished to the level of prostitutes. Yet, actresses were still allowed to wear makeup and, slowly, other women began to gravitate towards it again. In 1884, the history's first modern lipstick was introduced by perfumers in Paris - it was wrapped in silk paper and made with deer tallow, castor oil and beeswax. In the 1920s and '30s, this invention was back in the history books. The popularity of silent films promoted the use of lipstick, as women in the films wore black lipstick. It was also around this time that the first push-up tubes of lipstick were invented. Etc. view how many other cultures prefer to drink tea, including the UK and Asia, how do we know which one will win? There is power in numbers.Coffee is claimed to be sipped regularly by over 50% of all Americans at about 4 cups a day.Where did that deviate from the influence of the Boston Tea Party in the 1700s when the early colonials protested the tax on tea and threw it into the water? One of the main reasons that tea was then shunned by America is the fact that the early Americans fought to gain their independence from Britain,so it made more sense to prefer coffee to the traditional tea drink that came from their home country. In the early years of America, other nations began to export coffee, with America being the biggest importer.

1 comment Sacha0606 Fri, 23 Mar 2012 Sprite and add two atomic fireballs.(Note: I thought taking a swig of Sprite on Fire followed by Sprite Icy Mint would taste good. It ended up tasting like taking two sips of two horrible sodas.)3.Fanta Orange Icy Mint Blast- Doesn't taste that horrible, just a light orange with a slightly minty aftertast (not nearly as bad as Sprite Icy Mint),but it was still enough to make me gag after 3 sips.Orange soda + Mint?
